WAECO AirCon Service Centers: a (r)evolution in refrigerant recycling

WAECO AirCon-Service-Center (ASC) A new name, a new scope of services – automotive air conditioning specialist WAECO marks the start of the 2006 aircon season with the launch of a complete, entirely new series of refrigerant recycling units. Based on consistent customer feedback, WAECO’s recycling units are no longer named “RHS“ (the international abbreviation for “refrigerant handling station”) but AirCon Service Center (ASC for short).

Wishing to develop its competence in automotive air conditioner servicing, the innovative company recently commenced producing the units in-house, in its main factory in Emsdetten, North Rhine Westphalia, Germany.

Formerly, the WAECO specialists had focused merely on engineering, marketing instruction, product documentation and training. With the new production line on stream, WAECO is the only manufacturer in Germany of complete air conditioner service units for cars and utility vehicles. The company recruited additional factory and office staff to support the new production line.

WAECO’s decision makers are convinced their AirCon Service Centers are going to be a success: “With a range of valuable features incorporated as standard, WAECO emphasises its leading position in the market for aircon service units,“ explains Managing Director Peter Wähning. In the ASC1000, ASC2000 and ASC3000 units, all functional processes, including the oil management, are performed automatically without restrictions, there’s no need to operate pack valves manually. This saves time on vehicle air conditioner maintenance enabling workshop operators to offer their service at competitive prices. Moreover, all three service units feature a special transport lock, so they are also suitable for mobile use.

All units of the new series have been approved by automotive manufacturers and feature a special air conditioner flush software that complies with manufacturers’ specifications. Also new – and yet another cost cutter – is the unique “professional UV/oil feeding system“ which guarantees moisture-proof, safe and clean storage of refrigerant oils and UV additives. On top of that, there are many practical and functional details, all designed to facilitate the serviceman’s work: The swivel-mount display unit of the ASC series makes measurement reading easy from every viewing angle. The large recessed tray provides versatile storage for tools. The measurement printer, too, has a range of smart extras. For example, it is now possible to produce as many print-outs as desired once the service process has been completed. Last but not least, the heated refrigerant tank inside the AirCon Service Center speeds up the charging process and, once again, reduces the overall service time.

The three types of service units have been designed to meet workshop requirements in an optimal manner. New features include an integrated, vehicle-specific charging amount database with Flash Memory Card. In addition to the system software, the database contains about 4000 charging amount entries covering nearly all vehicle models currently sold in Europe. Regular updates keep the software current. For standard aircon service requirements WAECO has conceived the ASC1000. This universal unit performs and controls all essential a/c service functions fully automatically once the amount of refrigerant to be charged has been keyed in. With a charging cylinder capacity of ten kilograms, the unit is suitable for workshops with medium a/c service order volumes.

WAECO’s high-end AirCon Service Center, the ASC2000, is the perfect choice for aircon specialists and businesses with very high service throughput. With a refrigerant tank capacity of 21 kilograms, this unit ensures extremely short service times and effortless operation. Busy workshops workers will appreciate that, especially in the “hot phase” of the aircon season. WAECO’s high-volume model, the ASC3000, was designed for service work on large vehicles such as buses and rail cars. In compliance with bus manufacturers’ requirements, the unit incorporates a two-stage vacuum pump with a flow rate of 156 litres per minute, a separate fluid pump for refrigerant recharging as well as the large-capacity 21 kg refrigerant tank.

As a matter of course, all AirCon Service Centers employ state-of-the-art measuring methods for optimised refrigerant charging and display accuracy. All in all, the new ASC series makes professional a/c service work convenient, reliable and cost-effective.
